True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done, the zest of creating things new.
-Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Do you create your own content? Why or why not? I see a lot of bloggers who don’t create their own content, but just repost other people’s stuff. I don’t have a problem with it as long as they give credits, however many people don’t even do that. I can understand that when something goes viral it’s not always easy to find the origin of it, but please consider that behind every “inspo” picture there is a person who has put in a lot of work on it, and deserves credit.
If you do have a blog, but don’t create your own original content, I would highly recommend you give it a try. Have you ever thought about how much time you spend consuming information vs. how much time you spend creating? Looking at “inspo” pictures is nice, and necessary for inspiration, but it doesn’t even come close to the joys of creating your own, even if it kind of sucks. No matter how bad your pictures (or writing, illustrations, outfits, paintings or whatever kind of art) might be, it’s still so much more fun to do it yourself. Isn’t that what it should be about? Having fun with it, not chasing likes. Where’s the fun in posting content that is not your own?
Now while I think it’s fine to sometimes “borrow” from others, with credits of course ( I borrow a lot of quotes, but I always make sure to give credit, even if the person is dead), I myself am actually much more interested in following blogs (and Instagram accounts) with original content. I would much rather see your own unique style, rather than some random Pinterest pic I’ve seen a million times before.
